Coach Tony Womack
Tony Womack spent 13 seasons in Major League Baseball, terrorizing base paths along the way. Six years after he was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates, Womack burst onto the major league scene. As a rookie, he was the pirates leadoff hitter racking 178 hits, 26 doubles, and led all National Leaguers with 60 stolen bases.
In 1998 Womack was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks where he later led the National League in stolen bases. Racking up 72 stolen bags, this marked the third consecutive year Womack led in this metric.
Womack is quite possibly most well known for his heroics in the 2001world series. In game seven of the series, bottom of the 9th, he smacked a double off closer Mariano Rivera. to tie the game. Two batters later, his teammate Luis Gonzales singled in the winning run.
Coach Maddox is excited to announce that he and Coach Womack are teaming up, bring even more great training and opportunities to young Charlotte area athletes.
